Antioch Baptist Church: GwangJu

Pray for Jon Facenda. He once worked for Pastor Taylor and actually helped start our church (Victory Baptist Church). He started a church in GwangJu South Korea about 6 months back, Antioch Baptist Church.

Sunday Update

We had a great service on Sunday with 86 people. Not everyone was there. We had a good bit of people away. We were supposed to have a. Baptism but it got moved to next week. So next week I’ll have some baptism photos for everyone.

Teen Sunday school went well. Starting to have a consistent number of kids. That’ll help with stability and trying to organize some activities. Here’s some pics of the group of “shy” teens. for some reason the guys and gals segregate from each other.

Village Trip Update

If your familiar with my churches ministries, Haven Baptist Church, then you know that we go out to the villages to witness to people who don’t have a church in their immediate area or folks who have never heard the gospel or even the name of Jesus.

Last Saturday we had a wonderful time going out to the villages. I’ve never went out with this big of a group. It made me really excited to go out and try to witness to people.

Here are some pictures here below.

Top: Some houses aren’t in use any more, but the front yard is to grow crops to get them through the year.
Bottom: We had such a big group that we had to take two vans! As you can tell the roads aren’t that wonderful. Just about all the roads are dirt roads. Some roads have railings on the side now, so I’m not as afraid when we are on these roads!

Top: Like I said, railings!
Bottom: No railings!

Top: A view of other villages that we visited.
Bottom: An old broken down home. No one lives there anymore. Most houses we see aren’t old school mud hut homes, but when I visited in. 2006, some people were still living incomes like the one pictured below. God really has blessed me and my family to live like kings compared to what other people live in and go through not only in Korea, but around the world.

Top: Why is everyone Buddhist at the villages that we visited? Because at the bottom of the mountain there is the oldest active Buddhist seminary in Korea. Pictured above is one of the parks in front of the seminary.
Bottom: This was my team that went out from the van I was in. We got done early and decided to finish of the box of tracts and John & Romans we had left.

Top: At the park there was a beautiful pagoda with a waterfall. Everyone had to get pictures of it.
Bottom: And of course we had to take a group pic in front of the waterfall and pagoda.

Sunday Update

Sunday was a great service. Pastor Taylor was gone to preach at a church that was having their one year anniversary.

Pastor Shim of Unity Baptist Church in Iksan, is a graduate of our Bible college and sent out through our church.

In the morning service we had Nicholas Holmstedt preach and I took the afternoon service. God allowed me to preach and pick up from where Pastor Taylor was with his afternoon Bible study on the life of Christ.

Village Trip

This Saturday on the 12th, our church will be going back to the villages. We haven’t been for awhile since our van broke down. Now we have two vans and we’re hopefully going to be taking both of them as well. We should have a good group to help with passing out tracts and Bibles. Please pray for us and our evangelistic efforts.

Notes from Sunday’s Sermon

I just want to share some notes that I had from Sunday’s message hoping that it’ll encourage you as it has encouraged me. This portion of notes that I’m sharing was introduced at the end of the Sunday morning service.

HOW CAN I INCREASE MY FAITH?

Ask God to help you. (Mark 9:24; Luke 17:5)
And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Mark 9:24

And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. Luke 17:5

Read your Bible (Rom 10:17)
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Walk in the Spirit (Gal 5:16,22)
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 . . . . . .But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Galatians 5:22

Be careful with what you think about. (Heb 3:12)
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Hebrews 3:12

Chocolate Delight

My students love me! They give me pieces of fried chicken, sushi, pieces of bread that they ate off of, coffee, candy, and home made chocolate. Yes, home made milk chocolate!

Church Picnic

20120507-174118.jpg

I had a great time on Saturday with my church family at the beach. I live right on the coast and we decided to have our picnic right on the beach. We had some visitors, good fellowship, food, and American football! I have the scars on my knees to prove it. Here are few pictures from this past weekends church picnic. The little guy I got to hang out with for an hour or so is Pastor Taylor’s grandson, Nate. I had so much fun with him and our church family.
